At a developer event yesterday, Huawei unveiled the beta version of HarmonyOS 2.0 for smartphones. Now, Chinese sources are reporting that the Huawei P50 will be the first Huawei smartphone with HarmonyOS pre-installed, with the series launching in Q1 2021.

Huawei also announced that the company plans to install HarmonyOS on over 100 million devices by 2021 and migrate its existing smartphones and other devices to the new operating system. The company has confirmed that existing Huawei users do not need to buy new devices to run HarmonyOS.

Moreover, Huawei devices with HarmonyOS will support Android apps, but for a limited period of time: until the HarmonyOS ecosystem is fully mature. It also became known that users of the beta version of HarmonyOS can return to the stable version of EMUI 11. This can be done using the Huawei Mobile Assistant (HMA).

As for the Huawei P50, the smartphone is expected to have a liquid lens camera that will provide instant focusing speed.
