Huawei showed Mate 40 with octagonal rear cameras

A fresh teaser posted by Huawei has denied many design rumors for the upcoming Mate series flagship smartphone. The image posted on Weibo shows the main camera module, which is made in the shape of an octagon.

There is no reason to doubt the reliability of the image because it was published by Huawei’s president of mobile business Hua Hegang. It is noteworthy that the image of the smartphone is very dark, which is why it is impossible to examine the main camera unit in more detail. However, the teaser makes it clear that Huawei will abandon the not-so-successful virtual volume buttons that debuted in the Mate 30 series. On the right side of the Mate 40, the volume rocker and orange power button are clearly visible.

Recall that the upcoming Mate 40 is rumored to boast a 6.4-inch curved display. The Pro version is credited with a 6.7-inch screen. The devices will be powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 9000 5nm processor, which will be the company’s latest flagship chipset for the foreseeable future. Huawei will unveil the Mate 40 series as early as next week, October 22.
