Huawei and Leica have denied rumors of termination of partnership
Recently, it was reported that the partnership agreement between Huawei and Leica has ended. The source was a trusted insider, but the Chinese tech giant denied the rumors.
Huawei smartphones will continue to use Leica technologies
Huawei first announced its partnership with Leica back in 2016 with the launch of the flagship Huawei P9 camera phone. Renowned camera manufacturer Leica has contributed to image processing, user interface design and camera module design. Since then, Leica has been Huawei’s primary partner in the creation of new flagship smartphones. The Huawei Mate 40 smartphones also feature the Leica logo.
In response to a request from AndroidAuthority to comment on the information about the termination of the partnership with Leica, Huawei representatives called it “absolutely fake news.” In addition, a Leica spokesman said that they “have no information about the termination of the partnership.”
So the next flagship smartphone Huawei, which, presumably, will be the Huawei P50, should also receive Leica technology, however, in light of recent events, it is unclear exactly when it will be released and what kind of single-chip system will receive.
