Huawei will re-release the Nova 7 SE smartphone. Now with MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset

Huawei today certified the smartphone with model number CND-AN00. Chinese sources claim that this is nothing more than the previously presented Nova 7 SE 5G, but with a new processor. The devices do not differ in technical characteristics, except that the new CND-AN00 will be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor instead of the HiSilicon Kirin 820 5G.

According to the source, the new version of Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G will be able to boast a lower cost compared to the original model. Recall that the Kirin 820 5G chipset carries onboard four high-performance Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and four energy-saving Cortex-A55 clocked at 1.8 GHz. As for the MediaTek Dimensity 800U, it is equipped with only two Cortex-A76, however, the frequency of the energy-efficient Cortex-A55 is increased to 2 GHz. Both chips support 5G, so the functionality of the new version will not be affected.

It is likely that such a move is dictated by the US sanctions, which cut Huawei off from TSMC’s production facilities, which produce Kirin chipsets. Thus, the company has to use pre-purchased chips from other companies such as MediaTek.

Note that the availability on the market of versions of the same smartphone with different processors is nothing new. Samsung has been releasing its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note flagships in versions based on Qualcomm’s own Exynos and Snapdragon for a long time. True, there it is dictated by patents.
