Huge price of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 did not prevent record pre-orders in South Korea

As soon as trade-in deals for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 are taken into account by the end of this week, the number of pre-orders for the foldable smartphone could reach 60 thousand. Usually, trade-in deals account for up to a fifth of the total volume of pre-orders.

Most of the batch of Galaxy Z Fold 2, intended for pre-order in South Korea, have already found their customers to date. Although the official release is scheduled for this Friday, early pre-order users will start receiving their devices tomorrow, a Samsung spokesman said.

To meet the increased demand, Samsung is ramping up production of the Galaxy Z Fold 2, launching in Brazil and Vietnam.

However, with the current state of affairs, it will be at least a couple of years before smartphones with flexible screens become so commonplace that Samsung will start producing them in large quantities.
