Hyundai unveiled the Electrified RM20e Racing Midship (RM20e) prototype electric sports car at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2020 in Beijing. The RM20e is equipped with a 596 kW (810 hp) electric motor and 960 Nm of torque. It is expected to go from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km / h in 9.88 seconds. The RM20e mid-engine prototype combines the power, balance, braking, and traction of a racing car with the quietness and agility of a conventional car.

In 2012, Hyundai launched the RM project to develop the N models using new high-performance motorsport technologies. Since the launch of the project, a number of RM series models have been created, including RM14, RM15, RM16, and RM19. In 2019, Hyundai’s first electric racing car for the TCR series of electric touring vehicles was developed: the Veloster N TCR unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

RM prototypes are used to test advanced technologies, find ways to increase performance, and improve them for use in future models of the Hyundai N family.
