But this is not the only advantage of the ToughArmor MB840M2P-B
With the mark “new”, the Icy Dock catalogue has replenished a product called ToughArmor MB840M2P-B. This is an expansion card that allows you to connect a single M.2 SSD to the PCIe slot.’
At a minimum, this feature can come in handy when upgrading systems that do not have an M.2 slot. But this is not the only advantage of the ToughArmor MB840M2P-B. The card provides the ability to hot-swap the drive.
The drive is loaded into a special tray compatible with SSD sizes M.2-2230, -2242, -2260, -2280 and 22110. No tools are needed. The manufacturer notes that the kit includes a thermal interface that provides heat transfer from the drive to the metal wall of the tray. The metal chassis not only removes heat but also shields the drive from electromagnetic interference. A card equipped with a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface can also be installed in a slot with a large number of lines – x8 or x16. It is possible to connect a drive status LED.
The kit includes a half-height interchangeable mounting plate for using the card in low-profile cases.
