IHG’s Meteoric Rise in the Luxury Hospitality Sector

Since 2015, IHG Hotels & Resorts has embarked on a remarkable journey, doubling its Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio to become a recognized leader in innovation. This growth has been fueled by strategic acquisitions and the launch of exciting new brands. Over the past five years, IHG has expanded its portfolio from just one luxury brand to a collection of six distinct offerings, boasting 499 properties and approximately 114,570 rooms across 80 countries. This impressive expansion has solidified IHG’s position as the second-largest luxury hotel group by room count while maintaining a focus on high-value growth.

The Reimagined Regent: A Legacy Reborn

Following its acquisition in 2018, IHG has meticulously curated the reimagining of Regent Hotels & Resorts, aiming to reclaim its place at the forefront of modern luxury travel. Since its inception in 1971, Regent has established itself as a legendary brand, known for its innovative approach to hospitality. IHG’s vision breathes fresh perspectives into this iconic brand, evident across its growing collection of hand-picked hotels and resorts.

The year 2023 marked a significant turning point for Regent with the grand reopening of two flagship properties. In March, the legendary Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel, returned to the French Riviera after a two-year redevelopment. This was closely followed by the much-anticipated return of Regent Hong Kong to Victoria Harbour in June. Both properties received well-deserved recognition in this year’s travel industry awards.

Six Senses: Unveiling the Future of Luxury Wellness

Six Senses is synonymous with unparalleled luxury experiences that prioritize wellness and sustainability. This world-renowned brand is experiencing exceptional growth, with a development pipeline of 42 hotels poised to nearly double its existing portfolio. Since joining the IHG family in 2019, Six Senses has unveiled exciting new properties, including Six Senses Rome (the brand’s first urban expression), Six Senses Crans-Montana in Switzerland, and Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea. All three of these recent additions received recognition from the esteemed editors overseeing this year’s award selections.
