“I’m curious to find out for myself”: Jim Ryan on the likelihood of The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield on PlayStation

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, in an interview with the TASS news agency, commented on the situation with future Bethesda Softworks games on the PlayStation family consoles.

We will remind you, the September news about the acquisition of ZeniMax Media by Microsoft, including Bethesda Softworks and all its franchises, threatened the release of the forthcoming projects of the publishing house on PS5.

Subsequently, Xbox CFO Tim Stuart made it clear that the PlayStation (and Nintendo) consoles will certainly not be left without Bethesda Softworks products, but on Microsoft platforms, this content will be released earlier and/or in a better form.

Ryan does not know what the future holds for Bethesda Softworks games (for example, The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield) on PlayStation: “We cannot influence such a decision. Let’s see what will happen next. I am interested to find out for myself

“Great games are important to PlayStation 5, and if these great games are released exclusively on our platform, then we believe that points in our favor, and we are glad that we can give our community of players unique games that they will not find anywhere else.” Ryan pointed out.

In addition, the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment said that he respects Microsoft’s decision to acquire ZeniMax Media, but the Japanese platform holder has taken a different approach: the gradual growth of studios, sometimes supported by acquisitions.

Despite the deal between Microsoft and ZeniMax Media, Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo, developed in-house by Bethesda Softworks, will remain temporary console exclusives on the PlayStation 5.
