He believes that the level of localization of Lada Vesta NG will soon increase

Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of the Za Rulem magazine, commented on the information that the Lada Vesta NG has become less Russian.

“The plant was able to increase the number of operations it performs in the production of Vesta and even found new Russian suppliers, but lost points for critical electronics. At the same time, the company was able to localize some operations, in particular the processing of pistons. Metal, glass, tires, lighting equipment, interior parts, shock absorbers, steering, suspension parts, etc. are purchased from Russian suppliers. But the increase in these items was less than the amount of points lost for electronic components,” he said.

Let us remind you that for the first time, the government assessed the level of localization of the Lada Vesta NG, which turned out to be lower than the pre-crisis level. The sedan in the simplest manual configuration scored 3.2 thousand points for operations performed during production – 135 less than it was before the crisis. A station wagon, which has not yet produced, scored 3.2 thousand points (115 points less). Vesta with an automatic transmission, which is also not yet in production, lost the most – from 650 to 655 points, gaining only 1.9 thousand points.

The reason for the drop in localization lies in the control units for the instrument cluster, body electronics, ABS, and ESP, as well as ERA-GLONASS. AvtoVAZ lost another 75 points for the engine control unit.

Localization data is submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Trade several times a year. They are submitted by automakers – based on the data provided to them by component manufacturers. When the task is to ensure the production process, factories deal with this first and foremost, and not with paperwork. I am sure that fresh data will be submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Trade shortly – and we will see a different layout for localization.
