The flight lasted 54 minutes
The first flight of the Russian import-substituting SJ-100 aircraft took place, as reported by Kommersant with reference to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The prototype of the airliner successfully passed the tests, confirming the reliable operation of internal systems, stability and controllability in flight. Earlier it was reported that the first flight will be carried out using Franco-Russian SaM146 engines.
This flight took place in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Its duration was 54 minutes, the height was up to 3 thousand meters, and the speed was up to 343 km/h. The crew, which included test pilots Leonid Chikunov and Dmitry Demenev, as well as test engineer Denis Velizhanin, checked the stability and controllability of the aircraft in the air and the automatic pressure control system in the cockpit. They also performed complex maneuvers including “cloud landing” and go-around approach.
Import-substituted SJ-100 made its first flight
According to Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Russian components and systems are installed on board this aircraft: avionics, landing gear, control systems, power supply, and others. About 40 systems and units were replaced by domestic counterparts. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the successful first flight of the SJ-100, developed with the replacement of imported systems, was the result of the efforts of thousands of teams from the aviation and radio-electronic industries that are part of the Rostec state corporation.
A prototype of the short-haul aircraft SJ-100 was manufactured by the production center of PJSC Yakovlev (part of Rostec).
In the near future, it is also planned to begin a flight test program for the second prototype SJ-100 with PD-8 engines. At the moment, these engines are undergoing bench and flight tests as part of the Il-76LL flying laboratory.
