These are horizontal wingtips

Superjet 100 chief designer Kirill Kuznetsov said that imported SSJ 100 aircraft will be produced with horizontal wingtips as standard, which will reduce costs for airlines.

“The decision is primarily related to increasing the operational suitability, increasing the reliability of the aircraft, and improving some of its characteristics. For example, on this aircraft, in the basic configuration, without any option, the installation of horizontal wingtips is provided, which was previously an option for the Sukhoi Superjet 100. It was ordered separately by airlines. Here they will go to the base,” Kuznetsov said at the plenary session of the VI All-Russian Congress of Engineers, which opened in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.

Kirill Kuznetsov confirmed that all SSJ 100 aircraft will be cost-effective for airlines since this feature will reduce fuel consumption by 3-5%.

Work on the import-substituted Superjet 100 aircraft is being carried out at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant, where fuselage compartments and wing assemblies are manufactured, and on the territory of the production center of the parent company of the civil division of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yakovlev in the final assembly shop.

Earlier, Kirill Kuznetsov confirmed that the PD-8 engine, which was developed, in particular, for the Sukhoi Superjet 100, was launched for the first time on this aircraft.

At the end of August, the first flight of the Russian import-substituted aircraft SJ-100 took place, but it was carried out using Franco-Russian SaM146 engines.

The head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, promised to produce 20 Sukhoi Superjet New aircraft with Russian engines in 2024.
