Only the Belarusian Coolray will no longer have a gasoline engine
According to the Autopotok Telegram channel, citing its sources, BelGee, a Belarusian company that assembles Geely cars, is negotiating with the Chinese to acquire the platform of the popular Geely Coolray crossover from them. This is necessary so that in Belarus they can modify the design of the crossover and localize the components. As reported, the purchase price has not yet been determined.
In Belarus, a Geely Coolray twin may appear.
Recall that a few days ago, BelGee director Gennady Svidersky spoke about the transfer of a Coolray sample to the National Academy of Sciences (National Academy of Sciences) ” to study the issue of the possibility of creating an electric car based on this car .” Obviously, the electric version of the crossover will be able to be produced at BelGee along with the current gasoline one.
And what will happen if the Chinese do not want to sell the platform? In this case, as Avtopotok writes, there is a “plan B”. It consists in the production of the same national car at the Unison plant near Minsk (at different times they tried to assemble cars of different brands on it, but not a single project eventually became long-playing). This car will receive a Belarusian electric motor with a capacity of 110 hp. (based on the electric motor of the Polessky Electromechanical Plant) and a Belarusian inverter, and the traction battery will be assembled on the basis of Chinese cells. “ They say that this is a very real project, the state is very interested in it ,” sums up Avtopotok.
