An Intel processor of the Rocket Lake-S family was found in the 3DMark database. This solution has 8 cores and 16 threads, that is, we can talk about the flagship processor of the upcoming series. According to available information, models with 10 or even more cores should not be expected from the future Intel platform.
The appearance of one of the Rocket Lake-S processors in the 3DMark base may indicate that preparations for their release are in full swing. Moreover, the existing eight-core samples have fairly high operating frequencies: 3.2 GHz base and 4.3 GHz – real working.
It is assumed that the Rocket Lake-S processors will be compatible with Intel’s already released LGA 1200 motherboards with 400 series chipsets. Manufacturers of such motherboards struggled to convey to consumers that their new products will support PCI-Express Gen 4.0, despite the fact that today’s Comet Lake-S does not support this interface. In fact, they clearly hinted that the boards are ready for Rocket Lake-S – these are the solutions that will get the integrated PCIe 4.0 controller.
Intel Rocket Lake is also the first desktop processor to receive integrated Xe graphics. However, you should not rejoice yet: according to the latest data, 11th generation Intel Core processors should not be expected this year. There is true hope that Rocket Lake-S will be promoted by the company as 10th generation solutions along with Comet Lake-S, but the likelihood of this is small. But this year the company is going to release its Tiger Lake series for laptops – these chips will also receive Xe graphics.
