Infinity, canceled in 2001, will still hit the Game Boy Color

From 1999 to 2001, Affinix Software developed the role-playing game Infinity, which was to be released on the Game Boy Color. The project was canceled, but after more than 20 years, it is planned to be completed and released on cartridges.

Infinity’s cancellation came due to the loss of interest in the console due to the Game Boy Advance release, and Crave Entertainment dropped the game. Incube8 Games has now launched Infinity’s official website to launch a Kickstarter campaign this summer to complete development and release Infinity on Game Boy Color cartridges.

Retro Modding will publish the physical editions. A digital ROM version will also be available for emulators and flashcards.

“For Infinity’s 20th anniversary, we have brought together a team of both Affinix employees and fresh faces to finally complete Infinity and release the physical Game Boy Color cartridge it has always deserved,” the website said in a statement.

In the center of the Infinity plot is the war between two nations. Someone arms them with wicked weapons of enormous power, and the disgraced knight was called to overcome the centuries-old enmity that separates these peoples, his own grief, and the forces of evil that kindle the flames of hatred. The developers claim that the game will take about 20 hours to complete.

In 2016, the unfinished version of Infinity was posted online by former Affinix Software employees. Still, due to numerous code errors, the game could be played by about a quarter.
