In the Nizhny Novgorod region, where Volkswagen and Skoda cars were previously produced, they plan to launch the production of cars of one of the Chinese brands.
Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin spoke about this on Tuesday at the Russian-Chinese business forum in Shanghai, adding that the authorities of the region are conducting the necessary negotiations.
Instead of Volkswagen and Skoda
At the same time, we rely on the multiple development of technological cooperation, in particular in the automotive industry, which is a priority for us. Our cluster includes more than 800 enterprises specializing in the production of automobiles and auto components. We plan to ensure the localization of the production of Chinese-made passenger cars, and negotiations are already underway between our and Chinese manufacturers.
The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region assured the Chinese partners of the full support of the regional government.
