Intel Alder Lake-S Traces Found in SiSoftware Sandra Benchmark Database
In this quarter, the first Intel processors with X e family graphics on board should be released – they will be 10-nm mobile Tiger Lake. The successors in the face of the representatives of the Rocket Lake family will receive integrated X e graphics in the desktop segment, and by the time Alder Lake debuts in 2022, the graphics of this family will have time to evolve to the third generation.
An entry with the results of testing an engineering sample of an Intel Alder Lake-S processor has already been noticed in the SiSoftware database. From a scanty description of the characteristics, one can only understand that the graphic subsystem with 256 executive units is divided into sectors of eight pieces each, and the frequency of the integrated graphics in this embodiment does not exceed 500 MHz. In this context, the fact that engineering samples of 10-nm Alder Lake-S processors already exist is intriguing, although it remains from one and a half to two years to their announcement. According to some reports, the Alder Lake graphics subsystem will be manufactured using 14-nm technology. The computing cores will be located on a separate 10nm crystal. Comet Lake-S processors currently on sale offer 192 integrated graphics execution units, and Alder Lake-S with its 256 units will show visible progress in this regard. We should not forget at the same time that the processor’s Alder Lake-S will use the Intel X graphics architecture an e, which in itself should provide a performance boost compared to the Comet Lake-S. Alder Lake-S processors are expected to ship in 2022 and receive the LGA 1700 design.
