But in general there are orders
Intel is currently having trouble attracting large customers to its semiconductor business.
According to The Wall Street Journal, earlier Tesla and Qualcomm were in talks with Intel on the production of their chips at the latter’s facilities. Elon Musk’s company refrained from cooperating with Intel, since the latter was not going to seriously help the customer in developing the necessary processors and adapting them to their own technological capabilities. At the same time, Qualcomm was left frustrated by some technical errors and repeated delays in the prototyping process. It turned out that Intel was not able to achieve the results desired by the potential client.
Intel didn’t help Tesla and failed to meet Qualcomm’s demands.
At the same time, we recall that the head of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, recently said that he was satisfied with the results shown by Intel, and that Nvidia could transfer GPU orders to the processor giant in the future. However, for now, these are just possibilities.
Last year, Intel earned about $895 million from manufacturing chips for third-party customers, which accounted for only 2% of the company’s total revenue. But at the same time, Intel has allegedly already signed contracts for a total of $4 billion.
