Intel has shown that the Ryzen 4000U slows down a lot when running on battery power. Tiger Lake is not

Intel has released benchmark results that show 11th Gen Tiger Lake laptops deliver significantly better battery performance than AMD Ryzen 4000 laptops.

The tests involved five laptops from different manufacturers, built on the basis of Intel and AMD mobile processors with out-of-the-box settings. In this case, the batteries were configured to provide the “best performance”, with laptops removed antivirus software, and the brightness of the screens of all the devices installed on the 200 cd / m 2.

Intel’s own tests have shown that notebooks based on mobile AMD chips show slightly better battery life on average, but this is achieved at the expense of processor performance when the device is running on battery power.

So in the PCMark 10 test using Office 365 applications in battery mode, the performance of notebooks based on AMD chips is reduced by up to 38% compared to working on mains. In the WebXPRT test – the performance drop reaches 48%, and in SYSmark 25 – it reaches 30%.

In our Cinebench R20 benchmarks, Intel reported a slight drop in AMD notebook performance. At the same time, Tiger Lake chips outperform when tested in single-threaded mode, but in multi-threaded mode, AMD Renoir has the best results.

Intel has yet to publicly compare the performance of its own mobile processors to its new competitor, the Apple M1, which powers the new MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini. Since these tests were conducted by Intel, you should wait for third-party test results to get a more complete picture.
