IC Insights specialists have prepared a forecast that summarizes data on the leading suppliers of semiconductor products in 2020. The rating includes 15 companies – both with their own production facilities and contract manufacturers and their clients.
Intel managed to retain the first place among the suppliers of semiconductor products
The semiconductor industry has proven to be one of the most resilient this year, with many markets hit by the pandemic. While the pandemic triggered a deep global recession, it triggered an acceleration in global digital transformation, leading to extremely robust growth in the semiconductor market. Overall, sales of the top 15 semiconductor companies are expected to grow 13% in 2020 compared to 2019, more than double the estimated total global semiconductor industry growth of 6%. By comparison, the top 15 semiconductor suppliers recorded a cumulative 15% decline in sales in 2019.
Two new entrants, MediaTek and AMD, are expected to enter the top 15 in semiconductor sales this year. This will be the result of rapid sales growth of 35% and 41%, respectively.
IC Insights experts include contract manufacturers in the top 15, which in some cases leads to double counting. However, this is a consequence of the concept of ranking as a list of the largest suppliers, rather than a list sorted by market share. The rating looks like this:
