Intel unveils Xeon W-1300 – Rocket Lake processors for workstations

Intel unveils Xeon W-1300 – Rocket Lake processors for workstations

Intel has added the entry-level Xeon W-1300 processors to its database. Unlike home PC counterparts, the new Xeon chips support ECC memory and come with Xe-LP graphics with drivers certified for professional applications.

The new Xeon W-1300 processors have six or eight cores based on the Cypress Cove microarchitecture, an embedded GPU with 32 EU modules with the Xe-LP architecture. The chips offer support for AVX-512, 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes, and DDR4-3200 RAM. Overall, the new entry-level workstation processors deliver the same benefits as 11th Gen Intel Core chips for home computers.

The Intel Xeon W-1300 series (Rocket Lake) family includes seven chip models with TDPs of 35, 80, and 125 W, compatible with LGA1200 motherboards based on the Intel W480 chipset with the latest BIOS updates, as well as the Intel W580. Chips with TDP 35 and 125 W have the same frequencies as their counterparts in the Core series. On the other hand, the 80-watt chips are expectedly faster than the 65-watt Core model. All Xeon W-1300 processors come with Intel UHD Graphics P750 with 32  EUs and support up to 128GB DDR4-3200 memory.

The Xeon W-1300 series includes five eight-core models with 16 MB of cache and two six-core chips with 12 MB of cache. Note that Intel Xeon W processors are not compatible with platforms based on Intel B, H, Q, and Z series chipsets. Note that Intel generally does not list new chips in its database if they are not currently available or are launching. not expected shortly. Thus, it is expected that workstations based on Xeon W-1300 processors will appear shortly.
