Intel’s flagship Tiger Lake wipes out AMD Ryzen 7 4800U in work and gaming tasks

A few days ago, we reported on a series of commercials for the new Intel Tiger Lake processors posted by Twitter user WalkingCat. Right on the eve of the presentation of the new 11th generation of mobile chips, he also published two more videos, which directly compare the performance of the flagship model of the new Intel Core i7-1185G7 series and the flagship AMD Ryzen 7 4800U mobile chip.

Apparently, the videos were created by Intel itself. However, they do not indicate in which systems these processors were used. Therefore, the following information should be taken with a certain degree of skepticism, after waiting for independent tests of these processors.

The first video compares the integrated graphics performance of the Core i7-1185G7 and Ryzen 7 4800U in gaming. This scenario describes an Intel chip operating at a maximum power consumption of 28W. The Ryzen 7 4800U processor, in turn, operates in Extreme Performance Mode. Simply put, this mode allows the processor to operate at a higher heat dissipation rate than stated in the nominal characteristics. In this case, we are talking about TPD at 25 watts.

The video shows the complete superiority of Intel integrated graphics over the Radeon Vega graphics subsystem, which is used in the AMD processor. Back in June of this year, Ryan Shrout of Intel posted a short video demonstrating the Battlefield V shooter running on a prototype ultra-thin laptop with a Tiger Lake processor and no discrete graphics accelerator. The high performance of the new iGPU Intel X e -LP is confirmed by a new video. In some games, the superiority of the integrated blue graphics reaches 100%. For example, in the same CS: GO.

The general gist of the second video is that the Core i7-1185G7 outperformed the Ryzen 7 4800U is almost every task that Intel set for it. Namely: video editing, 4K video playback, and so on. He coped with all tasks faster than his competitor. In some, it is more than twice as fast.

Recall that the Ryzen 7 4800U (Renoir) uses 8 cores and 16 threads, and is also equipped with 8 MB of L3 cache. The mobile processor is built on the Zen 2 architecture using a 7nm process technology. The base frequency of the processor is 1.8 GHz. In auto overclocking mode, it rises to 4.2 GHz. The graphics subsystem of the chip uses 8 Vega computational units operating at a frequency of 1750 MHz. The dynamic rate of heat dissipation of the processor can vary from 10 to 25 W (depending on the load).

The Core i7-1185G7 (Tiger Lake) processor, which is expected to be announced tomorrow, uses four Willow Cove cores and eight virtual threads and is equipped with 12 MB of L3 cache. It is built using Intel’s new 10nm SuperFin process technology. The graphics subsystem is represented by the new Intel X e- LP microarchitecture. It consists of 96 execution units operating at 1550 MHz. Previous leaks have indicated that the base frequency of the chip is 3 GHz. In auto overclocking mode, it can go up to 4.8 GHz. The dynamic heat dissipation rate of the processor can vary from 15 to 28 W.

The announcement of mobile Intel Tiger Lake processors will take place on September 2, that is, tomorrow.
