Introduced the world’s first motherboard with a new ATX12VO power connector. This is ASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 4SR

The new connector is called ATX12VO. It is distinguished, firstly, by the presence of only 10 contacts, and secondly, its entire line is 12-volt, and the motherboard should deal directly with voltage conversion. And one such board has already been submitted.

In a considerable number of new ASRock boards that the company added to its assortment in connection with the announcement of Intel Comet Lake processors, there is the Z490 Phantom Gaming 4SR model, which was the first on the market to receive an ATX12VO power connector. Intel claims that switching to ATX12VO can reduce idle power consumption by 27%. ASRock itself does not say anything about this yet.

Probably in the assortment of other manufacturers in the near future there will also appear boards with ATX12VO, but Intel in its press release mentions only the Z490 Phantom Gaming 4SR model, calling it the first on the market. As for the board itself, this is far from a top-end solution, although it is based on an older chipset.
