Information provided by a reliable informant
A well-known insider under the nickname LeaksApplePro, who has his own informants and contacts among developers, has published some details about the iOS 17 operating system.
iOS 17 is expected to release alongside the iPhone 15 series, most likely in September of this year. An insider said that iOS 17 will not bring any major visual changes. Externally, the novelty will look almost identical to iOS 16. Instead, the focus will be on improving stability and performance, as well as support for the Apple Reality Pro AR/VR headset.
To that end, iOS 17 will bring a new dedicated headset app, similar to the Watch app, but with “significantly more features.” Changes to the Home and Latitude apps are also expected.
In addition, there will be some navigation-related changes to the Music app. The Mail app will be slightly simplified, while Reminders and Files will be improved, although it’s not yet clear exactly how. You can also expect minor changes in other applications.
iOS 17 is designed to run on six Dynamic Island smartphones, two of which are the already available iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. As such, all four future iPhone 15 models will feature Dynamic Island. According to other parts of the iOS 17 code, all four iPhone 15s will get a USB-C port, but only two will support USB 3.2 speed (Pro and Pro Max models).
It is also reported that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will receive improved imaging software compared to the iPhone 15 Pro and a better cooling system.
LeaksApplePro was the first to accurately reveal details about the new iPad Pro and Apple TV, the Apple M2 single-chip system, and the models that were discontinued after the announcement of the iPhone 14.
