She will have nine parameters
According to all available data, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will receive an Action button on the side, which will replace the physical volume switch. And in the code of the beta version of iOS 17, fragments were found hinting at what functions this button will have.
So, the Action button will offer nine different options that the user can interact with. Now in the iOS code there are only names:
Accessibility, Shortcuts, Silent Mode, Camera, Flashlight, Focus, Magnifier, Translate and Voice Memos.
iOS 17 points to new Action button capabilities coming to iPhone 15 Pro
The MacRumors resource indicates possible functions associated with these parameters:
- Accessibility: This option will supposedly allow users to access various accessibility features such as VoiceOver, Zoom, AssistiveTouch, and more.
- Accessibility: Similar to the Apple Watch Ultra, this option will allow users to launch any shortcut they have created or downloaded from the app, such as sending a message, playing a playlist, or controlling smart home devices.
- Silent Mode: Similar to how the toggle works on current iPhone models, this option will allow users to turn Silent Mode on or off, which will mute or unmute the ringer and alerts.
- Camera: This option will likely allow users to launch the Camera app and/or take a photo or video with the click of a button.
- Flashlight: This option will allow users to turn the flashlight on or off.
- Focus: This option should allow users to activate or deactivate the mode of the same name.
- Magnifier: This option will presumably allow users to activate the Magnifier app to use the iPhone’s camera as a magnifying glass to magnify small text or objects.
- Translate: This option allows users to launch the Translate app and start a conversation or translate text with the click of a button.
- Voice Memos: This option allows users to start or stop recording voice memos using the application of the same name.
How the interaction with the button will be implemented is not yet clear. It is likely that the user will be able to assign different types of presses (single, double, hold) to launch various functions.
