iPad Pro with Mini-LED Display to Launch in Q1 2021

Korea-based ETNews today announced that LG will supply Apple with Mini-LED displays for new iPad models slated to launch in the first quarter of 2021. The note states that LG will begin mass production of these screens later this year.

Mini-LED backlighting provides LCDs with most of the benefits of OLEDs, including higher brightness and contrast, and improved energy efficiency. Recall that a couple of months ago, the Network was full of rumors about the iPad Pro with a Mini-LED display. An insider hiding under the nickname L0vetodream claimed that Apple plans to release new iPad Pro models with A14X chip, 5G, and Mini-LED display in the first half of next year. Authoritative sources, including the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, as well as the Internet publication DigiTimes, claimed that the oldest iPad Pro model, equipped with a 12.9-inch screen, will receive a new advanced matrix.

The last time Apple updated the iPad Pro was in March this year, but this update can be considered immaterial. The device received the A12Z chipset, which is the same A12X, but with an additional GPU core enabled. In addition, the main camera has been improved and a LiDAR sensor has been added.

In today’s ETNews note, it was said that Apple plans to equip MacBook and iMac with Mini-LEDs as well, as previously suggested. But the timing of the release of these systems with new displays is still unknown.
