IPad shipments jump 40% last year and retain Apple leadership in segment

Apple continues to maintain its leading position in the tablet market. According to analyst firm Canalys, in the fourth quarter of 2020, the company was able to sell 19.2 million iPads. But this is not all the success of the corporation.

IPad shipments are up 40% from the last quarter of 2019. Also in the fourth quarter of 2020, the company’s market share is 36%. Following Cupertino’s is Samsung with a 19% share, which delivered about 9.9 million tablets during this period, and Amazon with a 12%  share and 6.5 million shipments. 

For all of 2020, Canalys estimates that Apple sold about 58.8 million tablets, up 24% from 2019. During all this time, the company occupied 37% of the market, significantly ahead of Samsung with its 19% for the whole year and Huawei with a 10% share. 

In addition to the tablet report, Canalys also combined this data with the PC market. Together with computers, Apple in the fourth quarter was able to ship 26.4 million devices, which is 42% more year on year. In terms of sales of computers and tablets, Apple was able to take second place, the first is Lenovo. 

In total, Apple sold approximately 81.4 million computers and tablets in 2020. Also this week, Brand Finance analysts shared a report in which Apple was the most expensive brand of the past year.
