This SoC is based on an improved version of the 5nm process that was first used in the Apple A14 Bionic for the iPhone 12. As with each new generation of SoCs, the Apple A15 will offer improved performance and energy efficiency.

Due to the global health crisis as well as supply disruptions, Apple released the iPhone 12 series of smartphones in October, while the company usually launches new smartphones in September. Due to the easing of the impact of the pandemic on the supply chain, Apple plans to release the iPhone 13 in September. And since TSMC is starting mass shipments of the Apple A15 ahead of schedule, it looks like this will indeed be the case.

Earlier, it was reported that Apple would move the speaker closer to the top edge of the iPhone 13, which would result in a smaller notch. Smartphones (possibly only Pro models) are expected to receive a ProMotion display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Rumors are also crediting the iPhone 13 with new colors and improved fingerprint resistance on the bezel. It’s possible Apple will add a fingerprint scanner under the surface of the screen.
