Then there was information that in the coming generation, Apple will not use them due to unresolved technical problems. New data suggests that such buttons may also not appear in the iPhone 16 line.

Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu says there is only a “low” chance right now that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature solid-state volume and mute buttons. The reason is the same: some unresolved technical problems. What they are, unfortunately, is unclear.
At the same time, it is still believed that in the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro Max, instead of a physical volume switch, there will be a new Action button, to which you can assign various actions.
