The version with an integrated touch layer is more modern and thinner
Earlier it was reported that the new iPhone 12 smartphones will receive OLED displays with an integrated touch layer, however, according to new information, the appearance of such displays in the iPhone line is expected only next year.
iPhone will receive an OLED screen with an integrated touch layer only in 2021
According to a new ETNews report, the Cupertino-based giant has placed an order for OLED displays with an integrated touch layer for iPhones due in 2021. In conventional OLED displays, a touch film is attached to the screen. The version with an integrated touch layer is more modern and thinner than traditional panels. So far, Apple continues to use traditional panels.
Sources also confirmed that this year the iPhone 12 smartphones will be equipped with 5.4, 6.1, and 6.7-inch screens manufactured by Samsung Display.
The presentation of the iPhone 12 is expected to take place in September this year. Not all iPhone 12 models are expected to hit the market at the same time. Apple will be ramping up production capacity, so some models will arrive later.
