But it’s too early to start fearing the invasion of hipster voyeurs

The other day, the network stirred up the news that the OnePlus 8 Pro has “x-ray” vision – using the “photochromic” camera of the smartphone, the “ enlightened” the plastic of Apple TV, admired the work of Face ID on the iPhone and even checked how you can use it to look under the clothes. As it turned out, the iPhone also has this mode. At least theoretically.

Apple’s new Face ID facial recognition system is due to debut with the iPhone X on Nov. 3. The system lets users unlock their phones just by glancing at them, but have also raised privacy questions and some anxieties over the ease with which others unlock a user’s phone. The discovery was announced by the software developer for Apple devices Guillermo Rambo (Guilherme Rambo). According to the source, any iPhone with a fringe and TrueDepth camera for Face ID scanning is capable of an “X-ray” mode in order to look through the plastic. As evidence, he cited the pictures taken on the iPhone X of the set-top box Apple TV 4K in this mode.

Theoretically, any camera with a fairly powerful infrared sensor has this mode. Rambo managed to circumvent software restrictions on the iPhone X. However, it is too early to fear the mass invasion of hipster voyeurs from the iPhone – you will have to work hard to unlock the mode, including jailbreaking.
