This is the opinion of IDC experts
IDC analysts believe that deliveries of “traditional PCs” (which IDC means desktop computers, laptops, and workstations) in the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), which includes Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, this year will amount to 68.3 million units. This is 6.3% less than in 2019. At the same time, supply growth due to isolation measures in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic will be recorded in the current quarter, but the wider consequences of the pandemic will negatively affect the market in the second half of the year, resulting in a reduction in the market for the whole year.
Isolation measures will boost PC market growth in the EMEA region this quarter, but overall 6.3% reduction is projected for the year
Most of all in the current quarter notebook sales will grow, which was facilitated by the unprecedented demand for equipping employees and students with tools for work and study at home. The most popular are ultra-thin models. It is expected that the share by the end of the year will be 33.6%. The second place with 28.1% will be taken by ordinary laptops, and the third – desktop PCs (26.1%). The share of convertible mobile PCs will be equal to 7.6%, and desktop PCs of a single-block layout – 4.6%.
