Siberian Research Institute of Aviation (SibNIA) them. S.A. Chaplygin plans to complete testing of the Sukhoi Superjet New (SSJ New) aircraft by the end of the year, as reported by Institute Director Vladimir Barsuk.
First, a series of tests are made for the first flight – they are quite short, then longer ones. Tentatively – in November-December it is planned to complete the tests.
The head of SibNIA clarified that the aircraft had actually been handed over to the institute: “The aircraft was being installed, a number of systems have already been installed, some work is still underway.”

In the spring, it became known that certification static tests of the SSJ New narrow-body aircraft with domestic engines and components would be held at SibNIA. They must confirm the reliability of the design and determine the conditions for the safe operation of the aircraft in accordance with the requirements of aviation regulations. The tests will affect, in particular, the fuselage, wing, horizontal tail unit, pylons and attachment points of the PD-8 engines.
The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) plans to begin flight tests of the SSJ New aircraft with Russian PD-8 engines in the fall, as previously announced by UAC General Director Yury Slyusar.
SSJ New is a Russian promising short-haul narrow-body aircraft, a new version of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 with maximum import substitution of components.
