Japanese release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon for Xbox Series X postponed indefinitely

The Japanese portal Game Watch, citing the publishing house Sega, announced that the version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon for the Xbox Series X console will not be released in the region on November 10 this year.

It was assumed that Yakuza: Like a Dragon will become one of the launching games of the Xbox Series X also in Japan, however, as it turned out, the release of this version in the region was postponed indefinitely.

The reasons for the transfer were not specified. Interestingly, in 2020, representatives of the Japanese press had the opportunity to try Yakuza: Like a Dragon on Xbox Series X and did not find any problems with the game.

When asked by Game Watch for comment, Sega said it had “not officially announced the Japanese release of the Xbox Series X version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon .”

As a reminder, Yakuza: Like a Dragon was released in Japan in January of this year. At that time, however, the new chapter of the Sega crime saga was still considered a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

The Western edition of Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be released on November 10 on PC (Steam, Windows 10), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The game will only reach PlayStation 5 on March 2, 2021.

Earlier, Scott Strichart, Senior Producer for Localization of Sega Games, spoke about the company’s commitment to the simultaneous release of Yakuza in Japan and abroad.
