Kioxia, formerly known as Toshiba Memory, has unveiled its first series of PCIe 4.0 solid state drives for the client segment. The Kioxia XG7 and XG7-P drives are designed for notebooks, desktops and workstations. Drive samples are already shipped to OEMs.

The advantages of the new SSDs include twice the sequential read speed and approximately 1.6 times the sequential write speed compared to the XG6 drives equipped with PCIe Gen3 interface. The new drives use Kioxia flash memory and a controller developed by Kioxia. It supports NVMe 1.4 protocol and SMBus for improved auxiliary temperature monitoring.
The XG7 series includes 256GB, 512GB and 1024GB models. For users who need more, there is the XG7-P series. It includes 2048 GB and 4096 GB models.
