The average age of Lada cars is almost 19 years
Automotive publication Motor1 conducted a large-scale study, which involved 705 available car models and 30 manufacturers from around the world.
The analysis showed that not all world market players update their cars with the same frequency. As a result, Lada and Tesla topped the list of car brands with the oldest model lines in 2022.
The calculation of the average age of a car is made by calculating the time difference between the beginning of December and the day the production car was officially announced to the public. Facelift, restyling and any kind of updates, except for the release of a new generation, were not taken into account.
The third generation Chevrolet Montana , introduced last week, is the youngest car so far. On the other hand, the Lada 4×4 or the original Niva, introduced in April 1977, is the oldest car in the ranking.

The Tesla Model S was first unveiled in March 2009, followed by the Model X in September 2015. The manufacturer’s newest machine, the Model Y, was unveiled in March 2019.
Japanese Isuzu and Chinese Xpeng and NIO are in the lead in this rating. Isuzu has an average car age of just 2.6 years. Recently, new ones, D-Max and MU-X, have been released. Also among the manufacturers that regularly update their lines are Subaru, Honda, Hyundai, Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Aston Martin.
