webOS 6.0 also received support for voice commands Alexa and Google Assistant
LG Electronics today announced the webOS 6.0 platform for its 2021 OLED, QNED Mini LED, NanoCell, and UHD smart TVs.
Largest webOS platform update for LG smart TV ever and NFC remote for quick content sharing
webOS 6.0 has received a redesigned interface. The new home screen provides faster access to frequently used applications and simplifies the process of finding content with recommendations based on user preferences and browsing history. All of this is displayed in full-screen mode.
The updated LG ThinQ AI module on webOS 6.0 supports voice commands from Alexa and Google Assistant. The redesigned Magic Remote with NFC support has simplified and faster pairing with your TV and other devices, as well as hotkeys, to access popular content providers. By touching the remote control with an NFC-enabled smartphone, viewers can exchange content between their phones and TV. Users can view content stored on their mobile phones on LG TV while continuing to use their favorite smartphone apps and features.
Magic Explorer, an improved version of LG’s Magic Link, offers the ability to view additional information about what is displayed on the screen so viewers can learn more about the actors, filming locations, and other interesting details about the films and shows they watch. The Content Dependent feature also makes it easy and straightforward to purchase products offered by some of LG’s terrestrial channels and TV services, including Live TV, Gallery, and Settings and TV Guide options. The color of the cursor changes every time Magic Explorer has information for the user.
Park Hyun Sei, president of LG Home Entertainment, explained:
The new version of our intuitive open TV platform webOS 6.0 represents the largest update since we first introduced webOS in 2014. With the new version of WebOS, LG is demonstrating its commitment to offer services, products, and technologies that fully meet the needs and desires of our valued consumers. ”
