Leaked Blueprints Confirm Upcoming MacBook Pros Will Get Broader Ports and Remove the Touch Bar

Blueprints and schematics stolen from Apple’s manufacturing partner Quanta shed light on the company’s plans for the upcoming MacBook Pro. They confirm that the company’s new laptops will receive a wider range of ports and use the magnetic MagSafe connector for charging.

MacRumors investigated the next-generation MacBook Pro motherboard schematics posted online. They found that the laptop’s right side will house an HDMI port, a USB-C connector, and an SD card reader. On the left side, there are two more USB-C connectors and a MagSafe connector. Previously, analysts, including the authoritative Ming-Chi Kuo, stated that all these ports would appear in the 2021 MacBook Pro, and now the stolen blueprints confirm these words.

The blueprints refer to notebooks codenamed J316 and J314, which correspond to the upcoming 16- and 14-inch MacBook Pros. Both devices are expected to receive the same set of ports. It is also reported that the new items will lose the Touch Bar, which the function keys will replace.

Recall that the drawings and diagrams of upcoming Apple devices were published by the hacker group Ravil, which claims to have gained access to the internal computers of Quanta. The docs contain detailed lists of components and their technical specifications along with the motherboard diagrams, which may reveal more details about upcoming laptops if you look more closely.
