LG patented laptop roll with 17-inch flexible display

Foldable smartphones are rapidly gaining popularity, in large part due to the efforts of Samsung, which makes some of the best devices in this category. However, some companies such as LG and OPPO believe that the future is not foldable, but rollable.

LG unveiled a TV roll earlier this year and has now patented a laptop of a similar design.  The South Korean company understands that other manufacturers will not ignore this segment of devices, therefore it is making every effort to become a leader in the technology of folding screens.

According to the new patent, LG will offer users a laptop, the diagonal of which can be changed from 13 to 17 inches by unfolding the display. When minimized, the device will look like a soundbar. The keyboard will be attached to the device as a separate module. In turn, a module with a touchpad can be connected to the keyboard.

Unfortunately, this is just a patent at the moment, but given LG’s boldness in launching concept devices, it can be expected that the roll-top laptop will be presented as early as next year.
