Live: Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold smartphone withstood 400 thousand folds
The other day, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun launched a live stream on his WeChat account, which showed the folding and unfolding process of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold smartphone. The process took 7 days; all this time, the smartphone and a special device were opened and closed every 1.6 seconds to check the reliability of the hinge. The live broadcast gathered about 2 million viewers.
During all this time, the mechanism was able to work out 400 thousand folds. This is equivalent to 10 years of normal use (about 100 deployments per day). This result demonstrates the durability of the device design. This form factor is a significant indicator because usually, the hinge is the weak point of folding smartphones. But Mi Mix Fold is definitely one of the most reliable in its segment. It is worth noting that officially Xiaomi guarantees 200 thousand folds. Nevertheless, as the experiment showed, the reserve of the mechanism is much larger.
The smartphone was presented on March 30 as part of the spring presentation. The cost of the device is an impressive $ 1,500, but despite this, in the first minute after the start of sales, Xiaomi sold more than 30 thousand devices.
