Looks Great: 3D Artist Recreates Village And Other Locations From Resident Evil 4 On Unreal Engine 4

Rumors that Capcom will release a remake of Resident Evil 4 have been circulating on the web for a long time. In January, unconfirmed information about a partial restart of the project’s development even flashed. Meanwhile, Argentinean 3D artist Santiago Ibarra showed how the fourth part of RE on the Unreal Engine 4 engine looks like. His developments were collected in one video by the authors of the Residence of Evil channel.

The video begins at an accelerated pace to show how the levels were created. Santiago Ibarra made sketches and layouts, then arranged important objects and added details. Fly over locations starts after the first minute.

The village from Resident Evil 4 on UE4 looks ominous, with medieval-style buildings and dense brushwood creating an unsettling feeling. The atmosphere is complemented by a light fog approaching the village.

Closer to the middle of the video, Santiago Ibarra showed the square in front of the cathedral, where a fire was burning. The artist paid a lot of attention to small details: barrels, wooden carts, and other household items can be seen in buildings and outside.

The developer also recreated the church and the cemetery with an eye to the source. He tried to keep the colors dark and subdued and added a minimum number of light sources.
