MacBooks to get 5G support and Face ID, but this won’t happen soon

Today, from a Bloomberg report, it became known not only about innovations in future MacBook Airs but also about the upcoming introduction of 5G communication and Face ID technology in Mac computers. But this will not happen as soon as we would like.

Support for cellular networks on MacBook laptops is a must. Apple computers are marketed as ideal devices for work in any environment, and the integration of a module with LTE or 5G support in the MacBook could make these computers completely autonomous. Now, like most other laptops, MacBooks are tied to Wi-Fi networks.

“Apple has already developed technology that will enable Mac computers to operate on cellular networks. Including, Apple already has the ability to integrate the Face ID facial recognition system, but probably none of these features will appear in the near future, ”the Bloomberg report said.

The “nearest time” is most likely assumed to be the current year. As for Face ID in Mac, it’s worth saying that the problem that has kept the technology from appearing in computers for so long is the relatively shallow internal depth of the case to accommodate a point infrared projector and TrueDepth cameras. Currently, Face ID is found in current iPhones and iPads, and they are significantly thicker than the display lid on the MacBook. The company even sacrifices the quality of built-in webcams in laptops for subtlety. For example, the MacBook Pro 16, which is considered Apple’s flagship laptop, has a 720p (HD) front camera, while the latest iPhones and iPads have front cameras that even shoot 4K.

But now Apple has developed technology that has been able to combine a point projector and an infrared camera into a single piece, making the part smaller overall. So soon you can expect not only a Mac with Face ID but also an iPhone with reduced bangs.
