Makes the game more accessible: Valheim developers explained the simple graphics in the project

Valheim, with nearly six million copies sold, was an overwhelming success for developers at Iron Gate and Coffee Stain Publishing. The game caught the attention of such a huge audience thanks to several features, and one of them was the graphics, which are reminiscent of the PS1 era. In a recent interview with PCGamesN, Iron Gate CEO Richard Svensson explained why his team implemented this visual experience.

The executive’s comment reads: “Graphics from PlayStation [1] are back! We love this visual style here at Iron Gate, but it also makes the game more accessible to people who don’t have the latest hardware and can create resources faster (than if we chose modern graphics). Simultaneously, the not too detailed stylistics of the world can be a little beautified with the help of various environmental effects and post-processing

The minimum system requirements for Valheim are really quite democratic – to run the game, it is enough to have a quad-core processor with a frequency of 2.6 GHz and a video card of NVIDIA level GeForce GTX 950. However, now the project is distributed in the early access format and cannot boast of high-quality optimization, which many Valheim buyers note.
