Marvel’s Avengers launched in Japanese retail three times worse than Marvel’s Spider-Man

Magazine Famitsu has shared information on retail sales of game titles in Japan in the period from August 31 to September 6 of this year. Superhero action movie Marvel’s Avengers failed to take the lead from the regular rating.

Marvel Avengers

Ring Fit Adventure for Nintendo Switch performed best of all for the specified reporting period. For a week, the fitness adventure was sold in the Land of the Rising Sun in an amount of slightly less than 64 thousand copies.

Marvel’s Avengers also fell short of 43 thousand copies. However, the previous joint development of Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal – Shadow of the Tomb Raider – started in Japan and even worse ( 32 thousand copies ).

But in comparison with Marvel’s Spider-Man – another superhero action movie on the intellectual property of Marvel – “The Avengers” proved to be less confident in Japan.

According to analyst firm Media Create, sales of Marvel’s Spider-Man in the same period amounted to just over 125 thousand copies, which is almost three times the result of Marvel’s Avengers.

It is noteworthy that a similar situation takes place in the British region: there Marvel’s Avengers also surpassed the starting indicators of Shadow of the Tomb Raider (albeit only by 2%) but sold three times worse than Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Marvel’s Avengers was released on September 4 on PC (Steam), PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. The PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S versions will be available at the launch of the listed consoles.
