Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales shows only a fraction of what the PS5 will be capable of in the future

Insomniac Games’ Head of Key Technologies Mike Fitzgerald spoke to IGN about Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in the context of PlayStation 5 capabilities.

Recall that on PS5, the new superhero action movie Insomniac Games offers improved graphics compared to the PS4 version with support for ray tracing and 60 frames / s (in different modes), as well as significantly accelerated downloads.

According to Fitzgerald, these benefits are just a small part of what the PlayStation 5 will be capable of in the future: developers will be able to squeeze more and more performance out of the console and come up with “more and more crazy” things.

“I think we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg of hardware capabilities like [PS5]. In the sense that we can take a game model like Spider-Man and make things work really fast, ” Fitzgerald said.

Fitzgerald also commented on the presence of two modes in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: quality (full 4K resolution, 30 fps, with ray tracing) and performance (dynamic 4K, 60 fps, without ray tracing).

“I think we can please [different types of gamers]. We’ve never offered this option in our games before, right? Each was tied to 30 fps. But now it’s nice to have a choice, ” Fitzgerald said.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales went on sale yesterday, November 12, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Representatives of the specialized press rated the game slightly worse than Marvel’s Spider-Man – 85% versus 87%.
