The couple decided to leave after five years of marriage
Western media reported the separation of 50-year-old French banker Olivier Sarkozy and 33-year-old American designer Mary-Kate Olsen after five years of marriage.
According to the TMZ online publication, Olsen filed for divorce a month ago, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, courts in New York did not accept divorce applications as usual.
Mary-Kate’s lawyers are now struggling to speed up the divorce proceedings.
Olsen is trying to get an urgent court order to file for divorce as soon as possible. The rush is apparently due to a dispute between spouses over real estate in New York. Representatives of the actress and designer claim that Olivier Sarkozy terminated the lease of their apartment without her consent, from where she forces her to pick up things until May 18. According to Olsen’s lawyers, an urgent divorce statement will allow her to ban Sarkozy from disposing of their property. She also insists on the performance of the prenuptial agreement.
Mary-Kate Olsen began dating the brother of ex-President of France Nicolas Sarkozy in 2012, and three years later, in November 2015, the lovers got married in New York.
TMZ journalists claim that Mary-Kate sent a request to the court to expedite the divorce proceedings because the couple has not lived together for a long time and do not intend to maintain a relationship. About who initiated the breakup is not reported.
Recall that Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy got married in 2015. Shortly after the wedding, the designer took custody of Olivier’s children from their first marriage.
