Meizu has a new CEO to lead the company on a new course

Today, a Chinese mobile technology maker has sent out staff reshuffle letters to its employees. The company has elected a new CEO (CEO) without any press releases or public announcements. For the first time, this became known from the Sohu portal.

The new general director was Juan Chzhipan- Jr.  (Huang Zhipan jr.) – brother and namesake of the previous CEO and co-founder of the brand Chzhipanya Juan. As noted by the publication Gizmochina, Meizu is thus looking for new young blood that could take over the reins and bring its unique vision to its development.

Moreover, in recent years, Meizu has gone through hard times. In 2019, it became known that Meizu laid off 30% of its staff. The layoffs even affected key employees – engineer Hong Hansheng, who developed the Flyme OS graphical shell, and co-founder Li Nan. The closure of brand stores followed this. In 2016, the company had over 2,700 retail points of sale, and by 2019 the number had dropped to 5-6 in each province of China. Despite certain difficulties, the company continues to exist and make plans for the future.

On February 3, 2021, from the published press release, it became known that Meizu will focus on the release of exclusively flagship smartphones. The Meizu 17 and 17 Pro released last year saw steady margins, according to the company. The Meizu 18 family of smartphones should be presented soon. And such personnel changes should have a beneficial effect on the further development of the brand.
