Mercedes-Benz will make electric cars travel 1200 km on a single charge
One of the oldest automakers in the world, the German company Mercedes-Benz, cannot indifferently watch as competitors in the electric vehicle segment measure their ambition. The veteran of the car market intends not only to introduce at least six models of electric vehicles in the coming years but also to increase their range to 1200 km.
Similar statements were made, as reported by the resource Electrek, the head of the research center of the brand Markus Schafer (Markus Schafer). As a benchmark for battery efficiency and aerodynamic performance, Mercedes-Benz will define the Vision EQXX concept, which may not become a serial electric car, but will share its know-how with the cars that will be put on the conveyor of the German manufacturer.
Mercedes-Benz is about to build the world’s longest-range and most efficient electric vehicle. Mileage of 1200 km without recharging will be achieved by them not by a banal increase in the size of the traction battery, but by optimizing the characteristics of the power plant and the entire structure of the electric vehicle. Engineering specialists from the Mercedes-Benz F1 racing team based in the UK will be involved in the project. The solutions tested in the framework of this project will be used by the company in the future in the production of serial electric vehicles of the new generation.
