Microsoft: Bethesda games may appear on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, but there are important nuances

After the deal to buy  ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, Microsoft’s head of gaming, Phil Spencer, hinted that the publisher’s development will not appear on the PS5. And now, Xbox CFO Tim Stuart has expressed a completely different opinion on this matter. According to him, Bethesda projects can come out on the platforms of competitors. But on Xbox, they will appear first or with certain improvements.

As reported by VG247, during a recent speech, the CFO said: “What we intend to do in the long term does not include removing Bethesda games from [platforms] Sony and Nintendo or the like. But in the future, we want this content to be either the first, or the best, or to match your individual preferences on our platforms. We want Bethesda projects to perform well on our platforms

According to Tim Stewart, Microsoft wants to expand its Xbox Game Pass audience with games from the publisher. They need to perform well in the subscription service.

Finally, the CFO said that his words should not be taken as an official statement regarding the release of certain Bethesda projects on specific platforms. However, he outlined the strategy that the Xbox division plans to pursue.
