Microsoft Blocked Upgrade to Windows 10 (2004) on LTE-Enabled Computers

In May of this year, Microsoft released the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, also known as Windows 10 (2004). After a while, the distribution of the update was suspended because of various problems after its installation. Although the developers are gradually removing restrictions, the update is currently not available to all users. According to reports, Microsoft continues to block the installation of Windows 10 (2004) on LTE-enabled devices.

The problem is related to the malfunctioning of the built-in WWAN LTE modem, which in some cases may stop connecting to the Internet.

“ After waking up from sleep or hibernation, some WWAN LTE modems report unable to connect to the Internet in the notification area and may not be able to establish an Internet connection. To keep you safe while upgrading, we are blocking Windows 10 (2004) from booting on computers with WWAN LTE modem drivers installed until the problem is resolved, ” Microsoft said in a message posted on the company’s official website.

Users who have encountered this problem can solve it by enabling and then disabling the “Airplane” mode. After that, the modem’s functionality is restored. Microsoft is currently working on a fix for this bug. It is expected to be ready for mass distribution later this month.
